Development Corps and Transparency Azerbaijan
organized a second round of
a training course on business
ethics for Azeri business
circles on May 14-20. The course hosted
by Irhad hotel consisted of 10 sessions, 2 hours each.
The course aimed at introduction of Western business principles into practices of Azeri business and increase of transparency in the private sector. Participants were familiarized with such topics as customer relations, business etiquette and protocol, ethics in internal and external corporate relations, prevention of corrupt practices, etc.
Development
of materials by Western educated Azeri experts and organization of first round of the training earlier in
2003 was funded by Norwegian embassy in Baku.
To increase efficiency of the course,
presenters offered to participants to discuss
real live cases from
business practices and ethical dilemmas. Altogether about 20 participants were
awarded certificates.
In
her closing speech, Rena Safaralieva, executive director of Transparency
Azerbaijan, said that responding to
wishes of the participants, their organization planned
to organize more
of such training for local businesses in future.
She continued “to enhance
efficiency of the course we will design and organized specialized sessions
for professionals from
various business areas and departments“. She also
mentioned publication of a
manual on business ethics in near future.
