This is one of the reasons why the U.S. is unsuccessful in the sport because children are not influenced early during growing up. The skill level of an U. S. child soccer player would not compare to one say from England. This is because the sport is not influenced enough in the U.S. as much as in other parts of the world. Soccer is not very popular in the United  States still to this day.
